Sometimes they probably are lying though...

You know the last day in class when your teacher is like –Oh, I’ll miss you guys! And you’re like, whatever, no you won’t.
Well, sometimes they will.
I just said it, and I wasn’t lying.
First 8 weeks of the semester done.

Just want to be a Gheek

Wow, I knew March would be hectic. Well, I’m looking at the calendar and it seems I was right. Will be right. Will be busy. Conferences, midterms, presentations, papers… and all I want to do is ski.
Targhee has a leap year special… D is on the phone with them right now. I can’t focus on anything else.
My legs are sore but happy. They want more.

Yesterday was better

Me: we haven't done it yet...?
D: I know, I'm anticipating!

Quote of the weekend 2:
Uncle Larry, about a minute ago: So, now tell me.. did the internet have anything to do with this weekend?

Walk this way

I took a little step today. It was small and it was hesitant. But it was a good little step. I try to think of people who inspired me to be a better person and what it means to let your guard down a little.
I have also started trying to separate anger from sadness, because they are not the same and it matters what you feel.

Vitamin C - also for me

I just ate an entire pomello. That’s a lot of Vitamin C right there. Before that, this morning, I ate instant oatmeal that expired in 2010. My boss wanted to throw it out, I was like “heck I’ll eat it” so I did.
Not bad at all. And free. Also not bad.

Last night we watched a movie called "Management" which I had never heard of but was actually pretty funny. Light and non-complex. No substitution necessary. I didn't learn anything, but I laughed.

3 is for me

Three day weekend coming to an end. Now I have three days of work and school before another three day weekend. We leave for Grand Targhee round 2 on Thursday. Life is not all bad.

Substitute this – not that

I did the research so you don’t have to. You’re welcome.

You want: expensive wine and fancy cheese.
You have: a $5 bottle and Tillamook cheddar.
Substitution Success? Oh yes, nobody cares after a glass or two.

You want: to sleep in with no alarm.
You do: go to bead early so trick yourself into waking up on your own before 7.
Substitution Success? Nope, tossing turning and eventually giving up.

You want: dark chocolate syrup on your raspberry sorbet.
You have: raisins.
Substitution Success? No. It may still be black on red, but the taste buds are not in the eye.

You want: to tell somebody to go to hell and stay there.
You do: say nothing but hope your fury will telepathically inform him that he is an ass and should better himself.
Substitution Success? Still no, but I keep trying.

You want: to watch a light and entertaining movie. Comedy or drama.
You do: fight for a while before compromising on a foreign war movie with an important message.
Substitution Success? Very poor.

Man-child

Fell asleep pissed. Woke up pissed. I live with a retarded ape who is turning 30 but acts like an 18 year old. Partying till 3am outside my bedroom door on a week night is not ok.
His blond bitch of a booty call parked me in.
I cannot wait to get out of that house.

Can't vote, but I can rant

Birth control or not, America?
Well. Let’s have a bunch of old dudes decide, cause they’d know…

Lately I’ve also been so appalled by all the freakin Right to bear arms- postings of facebook. People kill people, but more often than not, they do it using guns.
Less guns, less dead people.

If you actually use your gun to hunt animals, and you eat those animals, feed your family and have a passion and respect for nature and wildlife… then by all means, I respect that and can understand why you have that weapon.

But if all you do with your handgun is carry it around so you can wave it people’s faces if they piss you off or have bigger muscles than you….
Then no, you’re an immature looser and a gun is the last thing you need, or should be allowed to have.
And your mom should probably have considered Plan B.

Another lesson learned

Came home from class last night and found my valentine busy cooking shrimp, scallops, ceasar salad and asparagus while chilling the champagne. Then we enjoyed a nice meal while the pets were trying to kill each, other fighting over left over shrimp.
So it turned out to be a sweet valentine’s after all.
And from this I learn that whining and bitching pays off….

V-day

Oh sweet Valentine. This is what my valentine said to me Sunday
–hey, you wanna do it later, like this weekend or whatever, cause I just feel like I don’t have time on Tuesday?

And I thought back on last year when he was doing homework while I drank most of the wine and ate all of the chocolate and figured, yes, that makes sense. Let’s do Valentine ’s Day when he’s not stressed about school and we can actually enjoy it.

This is what he said last night
– I think I’m gonna cancel class tomorrow and go skiing!

Priorities, huh? Gotta have’em. ..

Although I’m not bitter or anything.
I’m just… yeah, bitter.

February 12, 2012

Rainy, muggy Sunday. We decided against Pebble since it was so skied down Friday and they got no new snow. I walked the dog and made an attempt at a 20 minute core workout session that I found online. It was this insane muscle man Rambo guy who said he did yogalates but really did a bootcamp version of pilates. I tried to follow along but he went way too fast and did way too many reps. I felt like an elephant doing ballet.
Then I studied a little bit, went to the store and somehow now this day is pretty much over. Oh, and somewhere in there I also ate too many cashews and gave myself a belly ache. Yep, that's about it. A Sunday I probably won't remember.

And drugs still don't work

I don’t remember which we got first, the video player or MTV as a tv-channel. But I do remember that for a long time we only had three vhs-tapes and on the one that was my sister’s were three music videos.
Shiny happy people with R.E.M, a song called Scent of a woman (although I though they sung Santa Madonna) by two greasy Italian looking dudes and Everything I do (I do it for you) with Bryan Adams.

They were all pretty good. I watched them over and over. My sister really like Bryan Adams. I thought he kinda had gross looking skin. Like an adult with acne. But I said I like him too. I didn’t really know what was out there, and I don’t remember wondering much either. I had three music videos to watch and for a long time that satisfied my need for pop-culture.

Kids these days will never know what it was like to rewind a vhs-tape or sit glued to MTV hoping your favorite video would play. There is no excitement and patience involved now that everything is just a smart phone button click away.

And my point?
I don’t have one. I just heard that Whitney Huston has passed and that made me think of the good old days.

But it's not about the money

Sometimes 95 dollars seem really expensive. Other times, not so bad. Depends on what you get for your money, I suppose. There’s that ‘it’s only money’ approach, which is not to be ignored sometimes when it comes to putting things in perspective.
But try telling that to your landlord… or somebody who just lost their job.
It’s basically a lottery ticket, I suppose.
A lot of things are.

I don’t know. If you could see the future, would you want to? Yes and no, right? Yes if it’s good, no if it’s bad.

It's all good

If you say you’re doing yoga at least once a week and then end up not doing it one week… you can totally make up for it by doing two sessions the following week.
Just in case you were confused on that part….

Also, if you have the winter weekend of a life time skiing Chief Joseph and Snowdancer and have the option of going back to Targhee... you should. So we are.

Tired... but Terrific Targhee

I was one of the first ones up the main lift this morning. Headed far left out to Chief Joseph's Bowl and stood on the edge for a moment, watching the sun wake the valley. Then hit the groomed slope before anyone else, with nobody around. It was one of those moments where you understand how people can be religious.

It's been a pretty spectacular weekend. Amazing weather, good snow, good fun.
We got full days in both Friday and Saturday and I did 5 runs before heading out this morning.

I was the only one from our group to rise with the early ski birds. Not because I'm such a hard core skier though... but because one of our roomies snores loud enough to wake the dead. Seriously, I feel like I've slept maybe nine hours total in three nights and even though I was tired as a drugged honey badger this morning, I figured I might as well put my gear on and get some snow time rather than staying in the room and listen to the broken chain saw.

Now I have a lot of homework and a lot of sleep to catch up on. I should really do some of the first before I retire to the other... but I don't know that I will...

First time in the Bengal pool

As it turns out, you don’t need as much time at the gym if you’re swimming as if you’re actually in the gym. Least I don’t. After 25 minutes I was pretty darn done. That’s why I was at work 40 minutes early.
Lesson learned.
